The Heavens where baseball is played have become a little more crowded, and when events like this happen, the only good that comes is the literature that soon follows to remember the figures that once graced the baseball fields with their talents. My words will not measure up to discuss these two legends of the game that I actually never got to see for myself, so I’ll guide you to some places where other people did a fine job of it.

On Earl Weaver:

From Thomas Boswell of the Washington Post

A link from Rob Neyer, I believe this might have profanity in it

A lengthy, but excellent piece on EW by Joe Posnanski

On Stan Musial:

What St. Louis will see on their newspapers on Sunday

From SB Nation’s Viva El Birdos, you can tell The Man meant something to the people

Short and sweet from Drew Silva

A 4-minute clip you should take the time for, if you haven’t already

May we be as wise as Weaver, and as forever kind as Musial.
