Thursday’s Pre-Gamer: Morse’s illness gives Duvall his MLB debut, Timmy speaks some more about no-no

Tim Lincecum threw a no-hitter on Wednesday, the US Men’s National Soccer Team moved on to the knockout round, and I got to go to another local brewery last night, so it’s been a pretty good past day for me, and I hope yours has been just as good or better than that. Some people are very, very excited for the NBA Draft tonight, and that should be exciting for basketball fans. Someone who is also pretty excited tonight is Adam Duvall as he will be getting his first start and first taste of playing in the MLB as Michael Morse has fallen under the weather.

Billy Hamilton leads it off and Todd Frazier has a .348 OBP. Get Joey Votto‘s .408 OBP in there and you’ve got a lineup that could cause some trouble early on.

Duvall gets to be in the six spot as the Giants hope his power carries over to the Majors.

Here’s what I wrote in the series preview about Reds starter Mike Leake:

Thursday, 7:15 PM PSTMike Leake vs. Ryan Vogelsong

Leake struck out six Giants when they met up at Great American Ball Park, but he also surrendered eight hits, issued a walk, and most importantly, allowed two home runs, the first to Michael Morse that gave the Giants the lead, and the second that extended the lead to 5-1 when Brandon Crawford went full-handsome.

June hasn’t been kind to Leake overall, but his most recent start against Toronto at home was positive for the Reds, with a higher number of strikes looking and swinging strikes. Ground balls also hit double digits for the first time in the month.

You know who else has not had a great June? That’s right, Ryan Vogelsong would like to have done better this month, reaching the sixth inning in half his starts. However, he did go against Cincy earlier in the month and had some success, putting up  nine strikeouts, his season-high.
