All Star Game rosters announced, Madison Bumgarner and Hunter Pence named to the squad

The 85th All Star Game will be in Minnesota at Target Field this year on Tuesday, July 15th, and recent tradition continues as the league that wins will get the opportunity to have home field advantage for the first two and if necessary, last two games of the World Series. I wrote about the Giants being made up of good performances, so it stands as no surprise that a million Giants weren’t chosen to the thirty-three man roster, but rather two: Madison Bumgarner and Hunter Pence. There will be injury replacements, pitchers that will be ruled ineligible because they’re pitching the Sunday before the All Star Game, so this is far from the final roster that will be announced at Target Field.

In total, seventeen starters are elected by fans, MLB players elect sixteen AL and seventeen NL players. Managers Mike Matheny (Cardinals) and John Farrell (Red Sox) fill out the rest of the roster. Final vote done online determines the thirty-fourth player.
