Roster moves are official: Matt Duffy (@mm_duffy) and Jarrett Parker go from Richmond to Big Leagues

With no trades made since the Giants played their last game on Wednesday, General Manager Brian Sabean and company had to come up with a plan for whom to call up. Should they take Brandon Hicks and Gary Brown and further deplete their AAA-Fresno roster? They decided against that, reaching down to AA-Richmond to promote 2012 18th round pick out of Long Beach State, infielder Matt Duffy, the #18 overall prospect for the Giants according to, and 2nd round 2010 pick outfielder Jarrett Parker.

Everything in the video below is what’s written in Duffy’s scouting report on

Duffy and Parker have both been doing very well offensively for Richmond this year. Both have played almost 100 games. The stats:

Duffy — 417 PA, .332/.398/.444 with a .379 wOBA and 134 wRC+, 15.8% K%, 20 SB (4 CS), 3 HR, 24 2B

Parker —  418 PA, .275/.368/.463 with a .373 wOBA and 130 wRC+, 24.6% K%, 11 SB (4 CS), 12 HR, 20 2B

Hopefully, both will be able to contribute to a Giants offense that has been sputtering for runs. While their stays might be temporary if Brandon Belt and Angel Pagan‘s road to recovery has no setbacks, should one or both get hot, (obvious analysis here) it would be a great help to the run-scoring machine that isn’t the Giants. Alex Pavlovic let the internet know on Thursday he was hearing Duffy and Parker might be on their way up.

And yes, there’s also this:

Don’t everybody line up at once now!

Congrats to Duffy and Parker on their promotion to the big leagues. Best of luck, boys.
